Safety Information
Trumouse is a scientific instrument designed for laboratory use. We place great importance on the safety and experience of its users, and equally on the welfare and safety of the laboratory animals. Read this chapter in full before installing and using the equipment, and follow its safety requirements throughout the equipment’s service life.
Authorized Operators
Section titled “Authorized Operators”The equipment is intended for trained laboratory personnel only. Indoor laboratory use only.
Installation Site
Section titled “Installation Site”The equipment must be installed and used indoors, at a site that meets the site requirements. Follow the site requirements for your model strictly (Site Requirements for the Trumouse Pro, Site Requirements for the Trumouse Lite), and make sure the site provides:
- Constant temperature: an operating temperature held between 20 °C and 26 °C. Non-condensing.
- Constant humidity: relative humidity held at 30 ~ 70 %RH. Non-condensing.
- Quiet conditions: low, stable ambient noise, so that the animals and the behavioral data are not disturbed.
- Air circulation: a well-ventilated room.
The equipment is stationary and not portable. Install it in a fixed, floor-standing position, and do not use it while it is being moved or where it is subject to vibration.
Safety Symbols
Section titled “Safety Symbols”No dedicated safety warning labels are affixed to the equipment. All safety precautions are given as text in this manual; follow the instructions in this chapter and in the operating chapters.
Electrical Safety
Section titled “Electrical Safety”The equipment is powered entirely by low-voltage DC at 24 V or below, using branded power supplies and cables certified to regulations worldwide, to maximize electrical safety.
The DC power connectors of the subsystems currently look identical, so there is a risk of connecting the wrong supply. Follow the wiring instructions for your model strictly (Assembly and Wiring for the Trumouse Pro, Assembly and Wiring for the Trumouse Lite), and connect each subsystem only to a supply of its rated voltage; do not swap them.
Connecting a higher voltage by mistake may damage the equipment. If you are unsure about the wiring, check it against the wiring instructions for your model first, and do not connect or disconnect cables while power is on.
Mechanical and Personal Safety
Section titled “Mechanical and Personal Safety”Cuts. The cut ends of the aluminum profiles on the Trumouse Pro, and the side panel edges of the Trumouse Lite and the Trumouse Pro, may be sharp. Take care when carrying and handling them to avoid cuts. The Trumouse Lite has an Exhaust Fan on top for ventilation; keep your fingers out of the fan to avoid pinching injuries.
Load bearing. The Reader Array floor platform can support one standing adult weighing up to 70 kg, but not sudden impacts such as jumping, which may damage the LF Reader Modules inside. Never place a ladder directly on the Reader Array floor platform. When correctly installed, the aluminum profile frame can bear a static load of up to 100 kg; even so, for work at height, use a stepladder placed outside the equipment, and do not stand on the frame.
The Trumouse Lite Top Panel is made of acrylic and cannot bear any load. Never stand or sit on the Top Panel: it may break and cause injury.
Removing side panels. The side panels are heavy and can easily slip or tip over once removed. Hold them firmly while removing them, and set them down in a stable, safe position.
Hot surfaces. The Industrial Camera and the Trumouse Pro Infrared Light may become hot during operation.
RF Exposure
Section titled “RF Exposure”The equipment’s RF emission is a near-field, low-frequency magnetic field at 134.2 kHz, with low transmit power and a short range. On assessment, the equipment’s RF emission is very safe: electromagnetic exposure at the operator’s position is far below the limits set for human health.
